The NBA offseason was marked by one story above all others, the intention of star forward Kevin Durant to be traded from the Brooklyn Nets to another team, making that demand due to a bad relationship with both coach Steve Nash and General Manager Sean Marks.

For the first time since the scandal broke out, which ended with a meeting in which in addition to Durant and Nash, Joe Tsai, Clara Wu Tsai and Rich Kleiman were present in Los Angeles to convince the two-time NBA champion to withdraw the request, the Canadian strategist spoke about the current situation with his franchise player.

What does Steve Nash think about the Kevin Durant situation?

“We’re good,” Nash said, according to ESPN. “It’s been like nothing’s changed. I have a long history with Kevin [Durant]. I love the guy. Families have issues. We had a moment and it’s behind us. That’s what happens. It’s a common situation in the league.”

Durant, meanwhile, had accepted that after the problems he had with team management, he has decided to put that history behind him as he was told he was “a great player” to let go and that he planned to honor the contract he had signed for four years with the Nets.

Kevin Durant’s commitment to the Nets

“I committed to this organization [Nets] for four years last summer with the idea that we were gonna be playing with that group,” Durant said.

According to Durant’s words, the conflict that triggered the demand for a trade on June 30 was due to the uncertainty generated after the dismemberment of the trident formed by him, Kyrie Irving and James Harden, since the latter was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in the middle of last season, in a negotiation that included the arrival in Brooklyn of Ben Simmons.
