Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Ajax as they look to reach an agreement with Erik ten Hag, who will be handed a substantial transfer budget if he takes charge at Old Trafford ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

Ralf Rangnick was appointed as an interim coach after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer‘s dismissal, and he is expected to undertake a consultancy role at the club after the end of the season.

According to the Telegraph, this summer will see Manchester United move for two England internationals in Harry Kane and Declan Rice, even if the team fail to secure a top-four spot, thus missing out on Champions League football for next season.

Rangnick‘s side are currently seventh in the Premier League table, four points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who are the favourites for fourth spot along with Arsenal and West Ham.

Departures and sales

The contracts of Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani are set to expire at the end of the campaign and all three are expected to depart the club.

According to Daily Mail, Manchester United will also look to offload a few fringe players who have been hardly had any playing time this season.

Kane, Rice and Phillips

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, the Red Devils are working on a deal to sign Kalvin Phillips from rivals Leeds United. The England international has played just 13 Premier League games so far this season, having recently returned to action after recovering from an injury.

Meanwhile, Kane is viewed as their main target and Manchester United could make a move for the Spurs striker almost a year after chairman Daniel Levy refused to negotiate his potential departure to Manchester City.

The Red Devils have also set their sights on Rice, who reportedly wants to play Champions League football next season. West Ham are currently ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League table and it remains to be seen whether they will manage to secure a top-four finish.

David Moyes’ side are also in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Should they win the competition, they will secure a spot in next season’s Champions League group stage.
