However, the market is not moving, and reports indicate that the Brooklyn franchise hopes Durant will rescind his trade request.
High price to acquire Durant:
ESPN’s Zach Lowe reported Saturday that league sources believed it was impossible to negotiate Durant’s departure at a fair price.
After the Utah Jazz negotiated a one-of-a-lifetime trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Nets smelled blood.
The Timberwolves traded four first-round draft picks to the Utah Jazz in exchange for Rudy Gobert.
The Brooklyn Nets want a similar trade to the one obtained for Rudy.
“The Gobert trade will make it even more difficult for the Nets to receive market value for KD, and they hope Durant’s entourage realizes that,” according to Lowe.
Fred Katz of The Athletic reported that big-ticket transfer discussions around the league stalled because asking prices are approaching “objectively absurd.”
Katz mentioned that the “levels in the wake of the Gobert deal may reach a point where the market collapses.”
Is KD staying with the Brooklyn Nets?
Durant is likely to start with the Nets in training camp.
In that case, KD will have to decide whether to rescind the trade request or insist on finding a way out before the season begins.
