At the beginning of last summer, Real Madrid‘s leaders closed the renewals of Vinicius Jr, Rodrygo and Eder Militao, which were considered by Valdebebas as the most urgent layers to secure.
The negotiations for the contract extensions of up to eight players of the current first team squad are set to soon get under way. Not all of them will continue with Real Madrid.
The necessary and gradual renewal of the squad requires the departure of some of them. And everything is currently being studied and analyzed by all the club’s leaders.
First up is Andriy Lunin, who by continuing one more season in the first team has the chance of extending his contract, which ends in June. Nacho is next on the list. His case is very similar to when Guti said: “Every year they bring one more in my position, but I end up playing”.
The club is clear that his continuity is beyond doubt. He’s been at Madrid his whole career and is a consistent part of the team.
The key: the midfield
Up to three midfielders are almost out of contract. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have their future in their hands. The Croatian has already said that he is not thinking about retirement and proves it in every game.
There is nothing new with the German playmaker. He knows that the club want him and he seeks not to disappoint, so he will continue if he feels good.
Dani Ceballos has not received any offer of renewal for now no matter how much has been said and Madrid’s idea is that he will leave the club at the end of the season, unless he really impresses. His situation remains the same as it was in the summer.
Benzema has signed
Karim Benzema is considered as already renewed. All Real Madrid’s plans are for the Frenchman to stay until 2024. The understanding between Florentino Perez and Benzema is absolute.
Marco Asensio is in the same situation as Ceballos. Without a renewal proposal and without any suggestion of continuity. At least he has the backing of Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Enrique. Mariano Diaz, the last of the list of players, will not continue beyond June 30.
