The LA Lakers have had a terrible start to the 2022/23 NBA season, sitting at 0-5. They didn’t play on Saturday, but it was still a bad night for LeBron James and co. because results elsewhere left them as the very worst team in the league.
With the Sacramento Kings defeating the Miami Heat 119-113, that means the Lakers are the only side with zero wins this season.
It’s only the second time in franchise history that they will be the last team to taste victory, with that only previously happening in 1957/58 when there were just eight teams.
If they lose again and fall to 0-6, which is quite possible since they next face the 4-2 Denver Nuggets, that would be the worst start of any side since the 2018/19 Cleveland Cavaliers, who struggled in their first season after LeBron James‘ departure.
For James, this is the first time in his own career that he has played for the last team to win a game.
The Brooklyn Nets aren’t doing much better
It might not be much consolation to the Lakers, but Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets aren’t doing much better.
They’re 1-5, so have at least tasted victory, but it’s not going well for the New York side and they have off-the-court issues too, with Kyrie Irving under fire for promoting an anti-semitic book and movie.
