Tite insists that Neymar will return at the 2022 World Cup, despite the right ankle ligament injury against Serbia.

Brazil coach appeared to be optimistic although his comments could be perceived as worrying for Selecao fans, for the fact that he is basing his claims on his personal view.

“I think Neymar and Danilo will still play in the World Cup, that’s my opinion,” he said at a press conference.

“On medical issues, I can’t talk about it, because I’m not in that position. We believe they will be available to play.”

Tite was asked if Brazil have lost their favourite status by missing Neymar for the remainder of the group stage.

“Brazil trust all the great talents they have. Neymar is an exceptional player, but we trust everyone,” he said.

“If you want to reward football we have to be careful and pay attention to the repetition of fouls, because they are concentrated on particular players and this affects them. This has to stop,” he said.

On Neymar‘s injury, Tite reaffirmed that the player played several minutes injured against Serbia, but that he didn’t know about his problem at the time.

“He was injured, but I didn’t realise it,” he said.

“We didn’t have that information, he tried to continue until he couldn’t anymore.”
