At least three sources consulted by CNN news network confirmed that Trevor Noah, host of The Daily Show, had nothing to do with the decision made by the Grammys organizing committee to leave rapper Kanye West out of the list of celebrities who will participate in this year’s Grammys.

Although the identity of the people consulted was not revealed, they all agree that Ye was considered to perform at the ceremony to be held on April 3, but his scandal generated by a racial slur launched towards Trevor Noah through his Instagram account that cost him a temporary closure of his account, also led to the decision to leave him out of the most important music ceremony in the United States.

Kim Kardashian, a bone of contention

The singer’s annoyance was that during an edition of the TV show hosted by Noah, he said he was concerned about Ye’s way of expressing himself about his ex wife Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson, the model’s boyfriend.

“Over time, Kanye has become increasingly belligerent in the way he tries to win Kim back. You may not feel sorry for Kim because she’s rich and famous, but what she’s going through is terrifying,” the host noted.

In response, Ye wrote a controversial message with racial overtones.

“All together now K-n baya my lord k-n baya K-n baya K-n baya my lord K-n baya Oooo’ lord K-n baya,” dictated the text where the lyrics of “Kumbaya” were replaced.

Deleted from the list

Upon learning that the 44 years old rapper’s name had been removed from the 64th Grammys, one of the sources consulted by CNN completely cleared him of any responsibility.

“Trevor never asked the Grammys to ban Kanye’s performance. He was not offended by Kanye’s post on Instagram and Trevor responded on Instagram. The notion that Trevor or his team asked the Grammys to ban Kanye is ridiculous,” she said.

It should be noted that Kanye West is nominated for five Grammy Awards, most tied to his recent studio album Donda, including Best Rap Song, Best Melodic Rap Performance, Best Rap Album and Album of the Year.
