Tua Tagovailoa suffered a worrying concussion during the Miami Dolphins‘ Thursday night loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, forcing him to be stretchered off the field.

The quarterback, however, reassured fans of his well-being on Friday, posting a statement on social media in which he outlined his desire to return to the pitch soon.

“I want to thank everyone for all of their prayers and support since the game last night,” Tagovailoa wrote on Twitter.

“It was difficult to not be able to finish the game and be there with my teammates, but I am grateful for the support and care I’ve received from the Dolphins, my friends and family, and all the people who have reached out.”

“I’m feeling much better and focused on recovering so I can get back out on the field with my teammates,” Tagovailoa said.

A second scare in quick succession

His injury has reignited debate in the NFL over the handling of concussions, as Tagovailoa suffered a hit to the head just four days prior to Thursday’s incident.

He collapsed on the field against the Bills and continued in the second half, before playing just four days later in which a more serious concussion occurred.
