The Indiana Pacers (17-16) overcame Miami Heat (16-17) Friday night at FTX Arena thanks to the game-winning triple by Tyrese Haliburton, who was recently called a “wannabe, fake All-Star” by a New York Knicks analyst Wally Szczerbiak.

Szczerbiak, 45, apologized for his comments after getting ripped on Twitter by current and former player. A former NBA player himself, Szczerbiak seemingly fired up the Pacers guard.

Haliburton, 22, scored 10 shots from deep on his way to a career-high 43 points and seven assists for Indiana in the 111-108 win over Miami.

His 3-pointer in the final seconds broke a franchise record for most shots made from beyond the arc in a single game.

He was coming off a 33-point game in a road win over the Boston Celtics (23-10) on Wednesday.

Against the Heat, Haliburton shot 14-for-20 from the field and 10-for-16 from downtown.

Tyrese Haliburton gets his revenge against Miami Heat

Haliburton had his worst offensive output of the 2022 NBA season against Miami on December 12, when he scored a single point, making Friday’s win that much sweeter.

Miami overcame a 12-point deficit early in the fourth quarter to tie the score at 108 with 10 seconds left to play.

Buddy Hield and Jalen Smith contributed to the victory with a respective 21 and 14 points. The latter grabbed 11 boards for the Pacers.

Tyler Herro, who hit the game-tying triple with 10 seconds left, scored 28 points, but couldn’t score another at the final buzzer.

Kyle Lowry (21) and Jimmy Butler (20) combined for 41 points, not enough for Miami to complete the comeback. Butler, 33, sat out the final frame due to a sprained right ankle.

Pacers prepare for Pelicans

Miaimi has now lost three of its last four home contests. They did, however, hold Myles Turner to five points and 11 rebounds.

Bam Adebayo scored 18 points and seven rebounds, ending his double-double string at four.

Herro, 22, extended his career-high streak of multiple 3-pointers to 12 games.

Pacers finish a three-game road trip at New Orleans Pelicans (20-12), while Heat host Minnesota Timberwolves (16-17), both on Monday.
