The death of The Queen has caused negotiations for Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua to be postponed, according to boxing promoter Frank Warren.

Last Thursday, at the age of 96, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away at Balmoral.

Cricket and Rugby Union matches were played as scheduled on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday while football postponed those events.

But boxing promoter Warren has stated that as a result of The Queen’s demise, negotiations for the all-British heavyweight match between WBC champion Fury and Joshua have been placed on hold.

After The Queen’s funeral on Monday, September 19, which will take place, discussions will resume.

We’ve put it all on hold for the time being, Warren told talkSPORT. “It wasn’t appropriate obviously. That’s how we feel.”

“We’ve put it on hold and will pick up on it in the next week or so. From our perspective, we don’t feel it is appropriate out of respect for what has happened.”

Fury and Joshua could meet in the UK later this year

Later this year, Fury and Joshua might cross paths in the UK. Joshua may be coming into the title fight after losing three of his previous five matches and twice in a row to Oleksandr Usyk.

The largest purse in British boxing history will be shared 40% between Joshua and his opponent. One of the locations being discussed is Cardiff, Wales’ Principality Stadium. The same goes for a match at the capital’s Wembley Stadium.
