Earlier this week, Nate Diaz sat down for an interview in which he confessed he didn’t want the fight against Khamzat Chimaev. The man who is considered one of the scariest dudes in the UFC right now. Over the next 48 hours, the Chechen star has turned into one of the biggest heels in UFC’s modern history for disrespecting the company.

Missing weight by that much doesn’t happen by chance, Chimaev definitely knew he was way heavier than expected. There are reports from UFC fans who were hanging out with Chimaev and they saw him eating a little too much right after the press conference altercation. Throughout the week, he’s been involved in several rifts with fighters who aren’t Nate Diaz, specifically Paulo Costa and Kevin Holland.

Can Khamzat Chimaev’s behavior be explained?

Considering how well he did against Gilbert Burns during his most recent fight, Khamzat Chimaev’s popularity sky rocketted and he constantly asked to fight the biggest rivals in his division. Since Dana White has repeatedly stated he isn’t ready to fight the top dogs in the division, this is how we can explain Chimaev’s erratic behavior.

Missing weight was one of the options for him, especially if he wanted to get out of the fight against Nate Diaz. At this point, all of this is only speculation but absolutely nobody is impressed with Chimaev’s unapollogetic behavior as he stood on the scale. He will definitely lose some credit, especially in the eyes of Dana White.

Even though the tension between Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland from the last few months is exciting, the way he is going about getting this bout might not be intentional. Regardless, he just lost a lot of respect from fans who like fighters who remain professional and follow the rules leading up to a fight.
