Nate Diaz bid farewell to the UFC with a victory over Tony Ferguson in the fourth round of the UFC 279 main event back on September 11 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

He now plans to pursue other ventures and, following his farewell, Diaz was expected to dabble in boxing.

His first fight was set to be against famous YouTuber Jake Paul, which would ensure him a million dollar purse, however, with nothing decided yet, there is growing speculation of a possible return to the octagon for a trilogy with Conor McGregor.

Sonnen’s prediction for Nate Diaz

Former UFC fighter and currently analyst Chael Sonnen believes a third Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor fight is possible, though he acknowledged that there are other options, such as dabbling in WWE or an exhibition boxing fight.

“You want to know what Nate Diaz is going to do next? Unknown,” Sonnen said on The MMA Hour.

“When I tell you unknown, what I’m trying to say is all options are on the table, but that option is also to return to the UFC and to fight Conor McGregor.

“That’s not just gone now, and it has to be Jake Paul or Floyd Mayweather and he’s got to go start his own promotion.

“Those things are all possibilities, but a return is also on the table.

“In fact, I think it’s leading the charge of what’s possible for Nate Diaz.”

Nate Diaz vs Conor McGregor would be a historic UFC fight

The previous fights between Nate Diaz and Conor McGregor are considered some of the best in UFC history, having garnered worldwide attention for pitting two of the most popular fighters against each other.

The first confrontation was at UFC 196, with the Californian getting one over the Irishman. But, in the rematch at UFC 202, the battle in the cage went to ‘The Notorious’, which leaves the door open for a third fight.
