Military veterans have expressed their frustration following certain remarks that Tom Brady recently made, comparing the NFL season to military deployments.

At the age of 45, Brady decided to return to football, just a few weeks after announcing his retirement earlier this year.

“Me, being 45 now, do I think the same way?” he started off by saying on his ‘Let’s Go’ podcast.

“I almost look at a football season like going away on deployment in the military and it’s like, man, here I go again.

“There’s only one way to do it.”

Reactions to Tom Brady’s comments

There were numerous military veterans who took to social media and didn’t hesitate to hit out at Brady for his comments.

‘Oh Tom Brady… go f**k yourself,” wrote one Twitter user, called Heather.

“Being a football quarterback is not even close to military deployment.

“I couldn’t see my children at all for a year. They couldn’t fly out to watch me do my job whenever they wanted.

“I could only call my mom once a week, on a phone with a 10 second delay that she couldn’t figure out, so we were constantly talking over each other.

“I was afraid to say how I was doing, she would have gotten upset and it could have affected her health, so I lied.

“Every day for a year our FOB was hit with missiles, RPGs, and small arms fire.

“I remember sitting outside one day and watching a missile fly overhead to strike the buildings about a half mile behind mine.

“I spent 10 months being ‘lucky’ to live in a concrete bunker modified with plywood walls to divide it into 6’x10′ ‘rooms’.

“My bathroom was about a quarter of a mile away, and I felt lucky that I had one at all.

“So tell me again, Tom Brady, how your football season is just like my military deployment. I’d really like to know.”

The difference in salary

Another vet pointed to the difference in what an NFL player is making to what some at the military would earn.

“Out of my eight(ish) deployments, I never made 15,000,000 million dollars went home every night, or spent time with my family,” Travis Akers wrote.

“Not sure where Tom Brady thinks his playing in the NFL rates a comparison to military service.”

One Twitter user stressed that military officers don’t get the opportunity to see family member while on deployment.

“It’s dumb statement like this, that shows you who Tom Brady really is,” a user called Jeffrey wrote.

“You gotta be kidding me. Your wife can go with you, from city to city she can be there. It’s not even close, trust me, I know.”
