With Serena Williams retirement announcement made this Tuesday, we remember her career but also the great duo she formed for the past two decades alongside her sister Venus.
Serena has managed to win 39 Grand Slams, with 23 of them being won in singles, and was only the fifth woman to ever hold the four Grand Slam trophies simultaneously in the same year, after a great 2002-2003 season.
While Venus was the first African American woman to earn the number 1 spot in the WTA ranking, she raised the winner trophy at a singles Grand Slam on seven occasions.
In Sidney 2000, Venus became the first woman since 1924 to win the gold medal in singles and doubles during the same Olympic Games.

The Williams sisters playing doubles was as dominant as it could get, with many times Venus and Serena also facing each other in the singles tournaments finals.
They’re undefeated when playing in Grand Slam doubles, while managing to take home 14 Grand Slams.
Between the two of them they have 62 Grand Slam Trophies, and also have won more Olympic gold medals than any other female tennis player in history, with five each.

The early life of Venus and Serena Williams and their first years practicing tennis and entering the professional tour was brought to the big screen through “King Richard”, the movie that portrayed how their father was a true believer they will become the best tennis players in history, forming a dinamic duo on the court.
