The Minnesota Vikings (11-3) pulled off an incredible second-half comeback to force overtime against the Indianapolis Colts (4-8-1) on Saturday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Kirk Cousins led his side to the largest come-from-behind victory in NFL history after trailing 33-0 at halftime.

Cousins, 34, is the most punished quarterback in the league this season, taking hits inside the pocket and shots on social media.

Kirk Cousins is currently the coolest QB in the NFL

A large part of the football community has been trying to write Cousins off for years now, and unfortunately, he hasn’t done much to change the narrative.

This year, Cousins got a new head coach in Kevin O’Connell, all while wide receiver Justin Jefferson continued to evolve into one of the NFL‘s best talents.

Saturday was a microcosm of Cousins’ career. It got off to a slow start and finished with the largest comeback in league history.

Largest NFL comeback in history

Running back Dalvin Cook caught a pass and ran 60 yards for a touchdown to make it a two-point deficit for Minnesota with 2:15 remaining in the fourth quarter.

Cousins completed the two-point conversion pass to T.J. Hockenson to make it 36-36 and force OT.

Vikings won the coin toss to start overtime on offense, but were unable to score. After the defense stopped Indianapolis, kicker Greg Joseph sealed the historic victory with a 40-yard field goal.

Cousins finished the game with 460 passing yards and four TDs on 34-for-54 completions. He threw two interceptions, as well, but did not buckle under pressure.

Kirk Cousins will get to wear more chains

In Week 10, Cousins also led his side to an amazing OT win, beating the Buffalo Bills after trailing 24-10 at the half.

One week prior, Cousins celebrated a victory over his former team, the Washington Commanders, by dancing shirtless and wearing chains on the flight home.

Cousins, who isn’t even among the top 10 highest-paid QBs in the NFL, has often been called overpaid and overrated. In reality, he’s achieving one of the greatest character arcs in league history.

While some character arcs are cringe — see Russell Wilson — Cousins will go down as a player who aged like fine wine. Vikings host the New York Giants on Christmas Eve.
