Country star Eric Church canceled an upcoming tour date so he could attend the NCAA Final Four Tournament.
Fans posted Ticketmaster notifications of a refund for his Saturday show at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
According to Church, he canceled his Saturday, April 2 concert to watch the University of North Carolina take on Duke.
For the first time in history, North Carolina and Duke will face each other in March Madness.
There’s no biggest rivalry in NCAA basketball than Duke and North Carolina. Known and the Tobacco Road, 2022 was the year to witness the most popular game in NCAA basketball.
North Carolina didn’t have the best year. However, they managed to arrive at the final four.
UNC defeated through Marquette, Baylor, UCLA, and St. Peter’s.
“As a lifelong Carolina basketball fan, I’ve watched Carolina and Duke battle over the years but to have them matchup for the first time in the history of the NCAA Tournament is any sports enthusiast’s dream,” the email said.
The Church choir, as his fans are called, didn’t like his decision to watch a basketball game instead of attending his concert.
One of his fans tweeted, “one year of waiting and got a hotel, rental, and dinner reservation to try to cancel now. Not to mention flew my parents into town to watch the kids for the weekend.”
Social media was not happy with Church’s priorities. Some of them bought tickets with one year in advance and traveled to San Antonio for the concert.
Nevertheless, one of the singer’s representatives told NBC that Church can’t commit to rescheduling the concert in San Antonio.
