The Buccaneers‘ contract with Tom Brady will expire at the end of this season. After that, he’ll be free to join the Dolphins if he decides not to “retire” again.

Mike Florio of ProFootballTalk has been reporting on Brady’s interest in becoming a minority owner of the Dolphins throughout the offseason. The Dolphins appeared to be on the verge of bringing Brady on board alongside Sean Payton, but Brian Flores’ lawsuit derailed the plan.

Florio added a new chapter to the saga on Thursday, reporting that Miami was planning to introduce Brady as a minority owner the week before the Super Bowl. That was just one week after Brady announced his faux-tirement, for those keeping track at home.

While Brady will not play for the Dolphins this season, it appears that we are simply postponing the inevitable. After the Dolphins’ situation collapsed, Brady to return to the Buccaneers, mainly because it was the only option he had. Brady will have more opportunities next year, and if reports are correct, Miami is his top choice.

Will Brady sign with the Dolphins in the 2023 NFL season?

For the Patriots, that would be disastrous. It would have been difficult enough to see Brady join the Dolphins’ front office, but Brady might not have played in that scenario, at least until 2022. Brady’s rights are still in the Buccaneers’ hands. However, in March 2023, this will change. Brady also has a no-tag clause, which prevents him from being franchised.

It would be a never-ending victory lap for Brady if he were to play in the division. Last season, he led the league in passing yards and touchdowns. It’s not unreasonable to believe he’ll be one of the best quarterbacks in the league in two years.

He’s also said to be friendly with Bruce Beal, the league-approved successor to Dolphins owner Stephen Ross. On the field, Brady may face Bill Belichick, and in the boardroom, Brady may face Robert Kraft.
