The 2022 British Grand Prix started with a scare on Sunday, with things having to come to a halt after just two corners due to a terrifying accident involving George Russell and Guanyu Zhou, most notably.

The accident saw five cars forced to retire in the first lap, which hadn’t happened in Formula 1 in five years.

Early contact saw Zhou‘s car flip out of control and go sliding upside-down across the run-off area at about 120mph.

The images were frightening, and those in attendance on the corner fell silent when they saw what happened, with Zhou crashing into the protective barriers at full-speed.

He was safely removed from his car and has been confirmed to be doing well, and he was transferred to the circuit’s medical centre.

Alex Albon was also taken to the medical centre after being hit by Sebastian Vettel, and he too remained conscious despite his car being destroyed in the collision.

Russell and Yuki Tsunoda, also involved in collisions, managed to leave their cars on foot.
