After his defeat against Russian Dmitry Bivol on Saturday, Zurdo Ramirez said he fought the fight he expected, and although the result did not favor him in the end, he was happy with his boxing display.

“I did my job, I threw a lot of punches to the body, but at the end of the day the judges did their job,” he told DAZN.

“I think I did enough to win, but at the end of the day the judges did their job, and I congratulate Bivol.

“I feel grateful to be here. Thank you all, I hope you enjoyed the fight.”

When asked what his next step in boxing would be, Ramirez couldn’t give a definitive answer so soon after his defeat.

“I don’t know what comes next, we have to go back to the gym, go to my family, and after that we’ll see,” the Mexican confirmed.

Unanimous decision defeat

Bivol defeated Ramirez by unanimous decision with two cards of 117-111 and one of 118-110, which cost El Zurdo his first defeat as a professional boxer after 44 fights.

El Zurdo had already won a world title in his career, being crowned at 168 pounds by the World Boxing Organization (WBO) between 2016 and 2018.

De la Hoya’s message

Ramirez‘s representative, former world champion Oscar de la Hoya, left a message on Twitter in which he showed his support for the Mexican, in addition to recognizing Bivol’s work during the fight.

“Congratulations Bivol for your great talent, I have always respected you inside and outside the ring. Lefty, raise your face that a loss against the number one does not define your career,” Goldenboy posted.
