Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez believes that Anthony Joshua would be the heavyweight world champion he could most easily challenge, should he decide to move up a division, after a career that has had a meteoric rise and in which he soon hopes to move up in weight, once he manages to face the WBA semi-complete champion, Russian Dmitry Bivol.

In an interview with the Youtube channel FighHub the fighter from Sinaloa, Mexico, explained:

“If I finally move up in weight, I feel the easiest would be Anthony Joshua. I think he has no jaw and would be the easiest for me,” said Ramirez.

He even dared to give his verdict for the British champion’s next fight:

“I see him losing to Oleksandr Usyk in the rematch,” scheduled for August 20, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Ramirez is currently in the 175-pound division, so a jump to full weight means moving up two categories, so he considers that his ideal opponent for his size would be the Ukrainian Usyk, current champion of the WBA, IBF and WBO versions.

After becoming undisputed, I can work to move up a category,” he noted about the possibility of getting all four 175-pound belts and set his eyes on Usyk: “It would be a great challenge to prove what I have. We are of a similar size and I can take those power punches he has.”

Ambitious plans in the immediate future for the Zurdo

But these two fighters are not the only ones in Zurdo Ramirez’s sights: a few months ago, he threatened the possibility of moving up to cruiserweight if a title shot at semi-complete didn’t come his way.

However, he landed a mandatory fight against Bivol for the WBA, although an official announcement and a tentative date for the bout has yet to come.

Ramirez feels that after the Russian, he can beat Artur Beterbiev. “Everyone can be beaten, we are not from other planets or perfect machines,” he said.

“Beterbiev is a strong fighter, a very solid champion, but he hasn’t faced someone like Lefty. The only monster in the division is Ramirez,” he boasted.
