Heavy snow has fallen in several parts of Yorkshire tonight – and there may be more on the way.

Yorkshire saw its first snowfall in the outer edges of the North Yorkshire hills at the start of the week but tonight marks the first time snow has fallen and settled in a city in Yorkshire this winter.

Leeds has seen snow fall in Cookridge, Adel and Alwoodley suburbs and now locals are reporting heavy snow in York and other areas of Yorkshire too such as Bradford.

Weather forecasts have been warning of the risks of ‘Arctic blasts’ and ‘snowy plunges’ but the warnings have become a reality now.

It comes as the Met Office issues a yellow weather warning for Leeds, York, Bradford, Huddersfield and Sheffield for snow and ice, with more snow possible overnight.

The snow and ice warning is in place until Thursday, so there could be yet more snow showers.

Keep following for more as we get it.
