Following a theft in a York Waterstones, police have released CCTV images of a man they would like to speak to.

The incident involved a man entering the store, placing items from the shelf into his backpack, picking up further items and carrying them underneath his arm, then leaving the store without paying. It happened at Waterstones in Coney Street, York city centre, between 4pm and 4.30pm on Tuesday, November 21.

Officers are asking members of the public to get in touch if they recognise the man seen on CCTV – although the images are not high quality, they may jog someone’s memory. The man pictured may have important information that could assist the investigation.
