The Los Angeles Lakers officially announced Friday the hiring of Darvin Ham to replace Frank Vogel as the head coach of the franchise. Russell Westbrook reacted to the news on his Instagram story…barely.

Westbrook shared the Lakers’ post welcoming Ham to Los Angeles, but the 33-year-old guard did not add any text or emojis. His tepid reaction was enough to send sports media into a frenzy, analyzing Westbrook’s future with the Purple & Gold.

Juwan Howard was the first choice

Juwan Howard was rumored to be the first choice for head coach of the Lakers, according to Marc Stein. Howard turned down the job to stay at Michigan University and coach his two sons next season.

Still, Ham’s arrival has been met with excitement by LeBron James, Magic Johnson and others. While the same can’t be said for Westbrook, him acknowledging Ham’s arrival is just enough for a first step in the right direction.
