Kelly Clarkson and Kelsey Grammer Sing ‘Frasier’ Theme Song With Nostalgic Flourish

Kelly Clarkson welcomed the prince of pop psychology to the Kellyoke stage during the latest episode of her talk show.

Kelsey Grammer — who starred as psychiatrist Frasier Crane in NBC’s Frasier — joined Clarkson for a duet of the show’s iconic closing theme song, “Tossed Salads and Scrambled Eggs.” Grammer sang the original track that played during the closing credits of the Cheers spin-off from 1993 to 2004.

During Tuesday’s Kellyoke segment, Grammer addressed the crowd and crooned, “Ya’ll know how this goes,” before diving into the opening verse. The pair traded verses before they both sang, “But I don’t know what to do with those tossed salads and scrambled eggs. Life’s calling again.” As Grammer wrapped the song with a flourish and a quip, Clarkson yelled, “I love you!”

“Thank you for jamming out with me,” the host gushed. “This is like a dream come true for me, ya’ll. Frasier is one of my favorite — you have no idea. I’m freaking out right now.”

A reboot of the Nineties sitcom arrived on on Paramount+ in October. To tease the show’s return, Grammer recorded a new, moodier version of “Tossed Salads & Scrambled Eggs” that offered a slower tempo while still featuring the original’s jazzy touch.

The sequel featured a largely new cast, with Jack Cutmore-Scott playing Frasier’s son Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Frasier’s old college friend-turned-university professor Alan; and Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, a colleague of Alan’s and head of the psychology department; and Jess Salgueiro also appear as Freddy’s roommate Eve.
