Ms Thompson, from Derry, Northern Ireland, said: ‘I normally use Johnson’s, but I ran out of that and was at Lidl doing my shopping so I thought I’d give it a try.

‘I just applied it to her face, cheeks, forehead and chin and just before rubbing it, she said’ mom that’s burning me ‘and I looked down and saw red.

“ I knew immediately that something was wrong, I just thought that was not normal.

I took it to the water quickly and rinsed it off. She had red spots all over her face and she really started screaming and saying that she was on fire.

It happened in seconds. For the rest of the day I had to keep putting a damp cloth on his face to cool him down.

‘I gave her paracetamol and I thought that if she is still like that tomorrow, I will take her to the doctor and have her treated.

Ms. Thompson insists that her daughter has never had an allergic reaction to any cream or cosmetic product, so she brought it to Lidl for investigation.

She said: ‘I contacted Lidl and they said they would get quality assurance to look into it for me and get back to me.

‘I asked them several times during the week if there were any updates. They asked me how long before symptoms started, how long did it take to go down, and if I took her to a doctor.

‘I reported it to Environmental Health … So they are looking into it too. They said they have contacted Lidl but have not heard from them yet.

Information

‘Lidl asked me to send them the product, but I didn’t because Environmental Health told me to wait because they might need the product. If they don’t, I’ll return it to Lidl.
