Alexander Bauer’s Parents Divorced When He Was a Child He Had 2 Stepfathers – All We Know about Melanie Griffith and Steven Bauer’s Son

Alexander Bauer is Melanie Griffith and Steven Bauer’s only son who did not follow in their footsteps as actors. Although his parents divorced, Bauer gained two stepfathers, including Antonio Banderas, with whom he shares a good relationship.

Alexander Bauer made Melanie Griffith a first-time mother when she welcomed him with her second husband, Steven Bauer. The couple had been married for four years when Alexander came but called it quits after another four years in 1989.

Unlike his mother, Alexander stayed away from the spotlight and did not pursue an acting career. He does, however, have a few acting credits and appears on Griffith’s social media posts once in a while.

Alexander Bauer Is Melanie Griffith’s Eldest Child

Born a Leo on August 22, 1985, Alexander was only a toddler when his parents divorced. He is the only child that came out of Griffith’s marriage to Steven, but he has siblings from different fathers.

Alexander has European ancestry, with his father having Irish, Welsh, and Scottish ancestors, while his mother is half Swedish and part German and Norwegian. Nevertheless, his parents settled in the United States.

Acting also runs in Alexander’s blood and environment, given his mom’s undeniable Hollywood success and his Cuban-born dad’s acting career. Alexander’s godfather, Warren Beatty, was also an actor who established a solid friendship with Griffith while auditioning for “The Parallax View.”

Alexander Worked in the Film Industry

Despite his many influences in show business, acting was not the career Alexander chose in the long run. He tried the industry for a while, working as a cinematographer and writer for “Kazoo’s on First?” in 2013.

In 2015, Alexander had a cameo in “This Loneliness” while working in the set’s camera and electrical department as a second assistant camera. The same year, he became the gaffer on the set of “Holding.”

Melanie’s Relationship with Her Son Alexander

It appears Alexander has a good relationship with his mother and previously appeared publicly with Griffith. In 2013, the mother and son were seen leaving Beverly Hills’ organic restaurant, Real Food Daily. While walking side-by-side, the duo were smiling and casually conversing.

Griffith and Alexander were spotted walking the streets of Los Angeles the following year on what appeared to be a mother-and-son shopping day. Although there are fewer sightings of Alexander these days, he sometimes appears on his mom’s Instagram account.

Alexander Had Two Stepfathers

Not long after Alexander’s parents divorced, his mom remarried her first husband, Don Johnson. Griffith and Johnson were first married for six months in 1976 and tied the knot again in 1989. Unfortunately, their relationship saw the same ending, and the duo ultimately divorced.

Shortly after, Griffith walked down the aisle for the fourth time to marry her third husband, Antonio Banderas, on May 14, 1966. Alexander was ten years old at that time and already had one sibling, Stella Banderas. Banderas said of those days:

“It was hard because the kids had to accept me […]. But as soon as the kids knew that I was there to stay, they were fine. They needed solid ground in which they could grow. As soon as I realized that, I started establishing my relationship […].”

Banderas eventually built a good relationship with Griffith’s kids, including Alexander. Despite his eventual divorce from the actress nearly two decades after their wedding, he still remained on good terms with his stepson.

In 2015, Alexander and “The Mask of Zorro” star were photographed together during a Holy procession for the Holy Week celebration in Malaga, Spain.

Alexander is also on good terms with his biological father, as seen in Steven’s Instagram posts about him. They sometimes bond over playing the guitar, among other activities.
