Charlotte Made George Follow Royal Protocol in Front of Queen’s Coffin after Kate Appeared to Calm Him Down

On September 19, 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth II was put to rest after she passed away on September 8, 2022, at age 96. Her eldest son and the new monarch, King Charles III, paid an emotional farewell to his mother’s coffin as it was lowered at St. George’s Chapel.

The coffin was placed into the royal vault, and later in the evening, it would be moved to the George VI Memorial Chapel, where a private burial service would be held. As the coffin was seen for the last time, the Royal Family and those in attendance sang “God Save the King.”

King Charles allegedly placed a note on Her Majesty’s wreath during the funeral. According to Today, the message read: “In loving and devoted memory. Charles R”

The publication claimed the “R” stood for rex, meaning king in Latin. The tribute appeared to be part of a long-standing royal tradition as others have left notes on the coffins of their loved ones in the past.

For instance, during the late Princess Diana’s funeral, her young sons Prince Harry and William allegedly left a note on her coffin that read “Mummy.” Express revealed that over 70 Royal Family members gathered at Westminster Abbey for the ceremony.

The family was joined by 500 dignitaries that included presidents, foreign royalty, and prime ministers as the group of 2,000 paid tribute to the late Queen. Besides King Charles, his son, Prince William, and his family attended.

According to Sky News, William and his wife, Princess Kate, brought along two of their three children, Princess Charlotte, then seven, and Prince George, then nine. The youngest Wales child, Prince Louis, was nowhere to be seen.

The little Prince and his younger sister walked behind their “Gan Gan’s” coffin as they bid her farewell for the final time. The two children, allegedly the youngest attendees of the Queen’s funeral, visibly struggled through the ceremony.

During the service, George was seen rubbing his eye while sitting between his parents. Images showed how Kate comforted her oldest son by placing a reassuring hand on his leg.

Emotions were also high when George entered Westminster Abbey with his family. In another touching moment, his mother had to help Charlotte to find her place in the Order of Service during Her Majesty’s funeral.

The Princess also lovingly comforted her brood by placing a hand on the shoulders of both children as they entered the building. People magazine noted how Charlotte came to her older brother’s rescue at the service.

When the two sibling’s great-grandmother’s coffin was going past them at Wellington Arch, Charlotte was seen informing George what he had to do when the procession approached them. The publication claimed the little told her brother:

“You need to bow.”

William’s oldest son seemed confused and out of sorts but listened intently as his sister instructed him to follow royal protocol. When the moment came, George appeared to hesitate as he looked at all the women and his sister curtsying before he bowed his head gently.

Although reports said William and Harry had a rift that filtered down to their wives and families, Meghan showed how loving and caring she could be towards the Wales children. Despite living in the United States (US), the Duchess of Sussex still had a soft spot for the Wales’s brood.

She, her husband, and their son, Archie, all relocated to California in the US from the United Kingdom (UK) in 2020. The move occurred after the couple revealed they wanted to step back from their senior royal roles and seek independence.

Meghan and the Duke of Sussex welcomed another child, a daughter Lilibet, in June 2021. The little girl’s name was a tribute to the late monarch as the nickname she used with close family members was “Lilibet.”

After the funeral, Daily Mail noticed a sweet moment that Harry’s wife shared with Charlotte as they gathered outside Wellington Arch. The publication noted how she seemed to flash the little girl a warm smile.

Meghan was generally solemn throughout the service and even appeared to shed a tear when she joined the other royals to bid farewell to the late Queen. A Daily Mail video showed Charlotte standing beside her mother and grandmother, Queen Consort Camilla, outside.

The Queen’s last send-off was an intimate one held at King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor.

The little girl turned around to look behind her and seemed to catch Meghan’s eye. Letting down her guard for a moment and connecting with the child, the Duchess appeared to smile before her niece turned back around.

After Her Majesty’s funeral, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared an emotional farewell to her on their social media pages. The couple uploaded a black and white photo of the pallbearers carrying her coffin into St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

In their message, they acknowledged the late monarch as their royal leader and also that of their family. They said farewell to her as a mother, a Queen, a great-grandmother, and a grandmother.

Later in the evening, the Royal Family held a private service after Her Majesty’s Commital Service. During the ceremony, Queen Elizabeth II was finally laid to rest next to her “strength and stay,” her late husband, Prince Philip, in Windsor.

The late monarch and her beloved husband stayed married for 73 years before he passed away in April 2021. The Queen‘s last send-off was an intimate one held at King George VI Memorial Chapel in Windsor.
