Diane Ladd Is Called ‘Goddess’ at 86 after Her Daughter Saved Her Life Following Misdiagnosis

Diane Ladd is a Hollywood actress who has appeared in over 100 film roles during her years in the industry. Recently, she has stopped taking on as many parts and is focused more on her family.

However, she was almost not able to spend time with her family because she was misdiagnosed once. Luckily, she survived and has now lived a long and happy life with her loved ones.

Diane Ladd was married to Bruce Dern for a while, and the couple welcomed two daughters together. However, a tragedy caused them to end their marriage after they couldn’t overcome the heartache.

Ladd and Dern welcomed a daughter together and lived happily until their daughter tragically passed away at 18 months old. The toddler drowned and left the couple devastated.

Ladd confessed that she and her then-husband thought the solution to their heartache was to have another child. Dern and Ladd then welcomed their second daughter, Laura, but Ladd admitted the second baby was not the answer to overcoming their heartache.

The actress was so focused on not becoming overprotective of her second daughter that she let her become a free thinker. However, her marriage with Dern did not survive the grief they were feeling over their first daughter.

Diane Ladd Was Predicted to Die in Six Months: Her Daughter Saved Her

Ladd and her daughter, who followed in her acting footsteps, became very close because they had only each other. In 2018, Ladd was diagnosed with pneumonia and told that she only had six months to live.

The actress said her daughter began crying and telling her that she couldn’t die because she had no siblings and only had her mother. Ladd proved the doctors wrong, though, and said her daughter was the one who helped her.

Ladd said she was grateful that she had been misdiagnosed at one hospital and then talked about how proud she was of her daughter for all her accomplishments before saying:

“She helped save my life.”

Laura helped her mother through the difficult time in her life by doing more than just taking her to a different hospital than the one that misdiagnosed her. Ladd and her daughter also began going on walks together.

It was on these walks that Laura got her mother to talk through her feelings as a way to process them. After a while, the pair decided to start recording their conversations. The recordings are now being turned into a book that Ladd and her daughter are writing together.

The book will be called “Honey, Baby, Mine,” an ode to a song Ladd’s father sang to her, and she sang to Laura. Explaining how the book came about, Laura said:

“When my mother received a terrifying health diagnosis, we started taking walks. Walks that resulted in us having the deepest, most honest, and even the funniest conversations of our lives together. This book is the result of not waiting to share it all and has brought us closer than ever.”

Ladd and her daughter forged an even deeper bond when the pair began spending more time together amid the actress’ diagnosis. In November last year, Laura took to social media to wish her mother a happy birthday.

Ladd turned 87 last year, and Laura ensured that the day did not pass without her honoring her mother. In her post, Laura called termed Ladd a “Goddess Mama” and said she was inspired by her mother.

Diane Ladd is “Nana Rose” of 10: She Doesn’t Miss A Moment with Her Grandkids

Ladd is now the grandmother of eight children and the stepgrandmother of a further two, totaling ten grandchildren for the actress. Although she loved being a grandma, she doesn’t like her children to call her grandma.

Instead, Ladd prefers to be known as “Nana Rose” and says she has so much fun being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren. She says:

“I’m Nana Rose. I have eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. And I love them all.”

Ladd said that she thought today’s youth had a difficult time because they do not have enough guidance on how to make the world a better place. Still, she loves sharing her wisdom with her grandchildren.

Laura says that her grandchildren cherish her as much as she adores them. When Ladd was diagnosed, and the family had to change how they did things to protect her health, Laura said her grandchildren did it with pleasure.

The younger actress said that the family spent their time taking care of Ladd, watching movies, and doing other things that would bring them closer together during that difficult time.
