Doctor Who fans are up in arms and not sure what to think after a ‘bi-regeneration’ twist when the new Doctor Who played by Ncuti Gatwa made his debut.
The third special of the current series debuted tonight, Saturday December 9, featuring Neil Patrick Harris as the villain, David Tennant as the Time Lord and the debut of a new Doctor – sort of.
During the episode, we saw a giggle of a mysterious puppet drives the human race insane. When the Doctor discovers the return of an old enemy, he faces a fight he can never win.

How I Met Your Mother’s ‘Barney’ legend Neil Patrick Harris guest starred as 60s villain the Toymaker and new Doctoer Ncuti Gatwa made his debut as the latest incarnation of the Time Lord – but it wasn’t quite that simple in the end in what was a packed hour long episode full of twists and favourites old and new combining.
In fact, there was more than one twist at the end after Neil Patrick Harris stole the show.
First, everyone was left asking what happens to the gold tooth and who picked it up – possibly hinting at a deep lore twist.

And then another twist hit the venerable BBC behemoth right in the dying moments as it was revealed that the new Doctor and David Tennant will co-exist side by side in a ‘bi-regenaration’.
Some viewers adored the twist while others hit out at the BBC, and some just didn’t know what to think yet.
It’s fair to say Russel T Davies’ return has been anything but straightforward.
