The Department for Work and Pensions will pay up to £100 every week to people with common medical conditions, but the claimant must meet a certain criteria.
Attendance Allowance can pay up to almost £5,300 worth of support each year to those eligible, however, it remains significantly underclaimed, according to the DWP, reports The Express.
Currently, around 1.6m are claiming it but many more people may also be eligible. Those who have a long-term physical or mental condition or a disability could be eligible to receive attendance allowance.

It isn’t the condition specifically that matters, it is how it affects you. Those who have reached State Pension age and need help with personal care, or support, then you could be eligible.
The allowance is paid at two different rates and how much you get depends on the level of care you need because of your disability.

If you are physically or mentally disabled and State Pension age or older, you could get the lower rate of £68.10 or higher rate of £101.75 a week to help with personal support. However, it does not cover mobility needs.

To claim, people need to fill out an Attendance Allowance form, which can be accessed by either calling the helpline on 0800 731 0122 or downloading it from the Government website, here.
