A Yorkshire family has welcomed their new arrival – the first to be born on Christmas Day in Halifax.
Baby Mohammed Saghir was born just after midnight at 00.19am on December 25, and was the first Christmas Day baby born at Calderdale Royal Hospital.
He weighed 1960g – just over four pound and was pictured with his proud dad, Mohammed Saghir.
A spokesperson for the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust confirmed Mohammed as the first baby born on Christmas Day. Calderdale Royal is the home of the maternity services in the area, and all babies except home births are born there.
