Joe Mantegna built his name in Hollywood as a prolific actor, known for starring in several notable films. Here’s a look at the star’s career and personal life.

Joe Mantegna was excited to host the National Memorial Day Concert, which took place on Sunday night at the West Lawn of the US Capitol. 

The event, held virtually in the past two years, was broadcast live on PBS. Mantegna had “Forrest Gump” star Garry Sinise host with him.

“I’m so glad that we’re back live on-site in front of the Capital,” the “Criminal Minds” actor said. “We’ve had to do it virtually the last couple of years. I still think we did a good job of putting the show together, but it’s nice to be back.”

Mantegna is a familiar face on television, not just because of hosting the National Memorial Day Concerts in the past but also because of his several acting credits. Here’s a closer look at his life on and off-screen.

WHO IS JOE MANTEGNA?

Born on November 13, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, Mantegna is one of the known actors of his time, with over 200 film and television credits under his belt as an actor, writer, director, and producer.

Mantegna began his professional career on stage after graduating from the Goodman School of Drama. He made his Broadway debut in the musical “Working” and later received a Tony and Joseph Jefferson Award for his performance in the play “Glengarry Glen Ross.”

In 1985, Mantegna made his film debut in “Compromising Positions.” He later had starring roles in “Suspect,” “Weeds,” and “The Money Pit.” The actor had several acclaimed roles in notable films, including Francis Ford Coppola’s “The Godfather III,” Woody Allen’s “Celebrity,” and “Alice.”

His other films include “Liberty Heights,” “Searching for Bobby Fischer,” “Forget Paris,” “Up Close and Personal,” “Eye for an Eye,” and “Thinner.”

Mantegna is the National Army Museum spokesperson, dedicated to military service. He and Arlene also support eight other charities that support veterans and people with disabilities.

Aside from film, the talented Hollywood icon also starred in several television shows such as “The Rat Pack,” “The Last Don,” “Joan of Arcadia,” “The Starter Wife,” and the long-running series “Criminal Minds.” Now 74 years old, Mantegna has no plans of slowing his career down.

WHO IS JOE MANTEGNA MARRIED TO?

When the cameras stop rolling, Mantegna comes home to his wife of over 50 years, Arlene, whom he draws strength and inspiration from.

The couple met in high school and began a romantic relationship in 1969. Six years later, they exchanged wedding vows in a private Paris ceremony and have been together since.

Together, they have two adult daughters, Mia and Gia. Arlene mainly cared for their daughters growing up while supporting her husband’s career. In 2003, it was Mantegna’s turn to support his wife when she fulfilled her dream of opening a restaurant in California.

With all their blessings, Mantegna and his wife don’t forget to give back to the community. Mantegna is the National Army Museum spokesperson, dedicated to military service. He and Arlene also support eight other charities that support veterans and people with disabilities.
