Does Mae Martin Have a Partner?

In 2020, during quarantine, Martin revealed they were single during an interview and remarked they never liked going on dating apps. They have not confirmed they are in a relationship with anyone.

In November 2022, they attended the 11th annual LACMA Art+Film Gala with Elliot Page, whom they called their king on Instagram, which could mean they are a couple. Their friendship started long before 2022, as they had gotten matching tattoos in the summer of 2021.

Elliot Page is transgender, and he came out in December 2020 with a lengthy post on Instagram. In the post, he revealed that he was excited to share the news despite feeling overwhelming gratitude.

Before coming out, he had married the dance teacher, Emma Portner. The couple announced their surprise wedding in early 2018 but split after three years in early 2021. They were separated for months before the actor filed for divorce.

In March 2023, Martin appeared on the red carpet for the Vanity Fair Oscar party with another man—Brett Goldstein. Before the red carpet event, the duo gave off cozy vibes on Instagram.

They had previously posted photos where they were close and in suggestive poses, showing they seemed very comfortable with each other because of their close professional relationship and friendship. In one of the posts, they wrote in the caption that they would not stop until one of them was pregnant.

However, the images were just teasers for their stand-up show, where they promised to answer relationship questions, give relationship advice, share jokes, and crown it with a “love-making” session on stage.

Mae Martin Experiences Gender Dysphoria Sometimes

In April 2021, Martin clarified their sexuality on Instagram because they were often inaccurately labeled. They revealed they were nonbinary, but it was an evolving and ongoing process. They wrote:

“I’m nonbinary, my pronouns are they/them. I’m very bisexual and attracted to people of all genders. I experience gender dysphoria sometimes – not always! – and have done since I was a tiny kid.”

They say they deal with dysphoria by wearing a binder, which helps them feel more confident. However, they remarked that there was more to them than their gender identity, and they were still figuring things out.

Martin once revealed they were romantic, had fallen in love hard, and tend to give their all when they are in love. They believe one has to take risks to reap the benefits.

As they have grown older, they now believe the saying that “love is pain” because falling in love opens one up to the possibility of loss. They think that being able to love someone is a brave and scary act.

However, even though love could lead to pain, the act should enrich the one who experiences it and not hurt them. It should be safe and warm rather than draining and destabilizing.
