The Royal Variety is back on ITV1 and ITVX but it’s fair to say star host Bradley Walsh proved divisive on Sunday night as watching viewers said he was ‘dying’ on stage during his standup routine.
The actor and presenter best known for presenting The Chase took on the MC duties for The Royal Variety Performance tonight in front of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Will and Kate.
Bradley opened the Royal Variety show with a stand up routine that largely revolved around begging the Royal family for an MBE, OBE or CBE honour and it didn’t seem to go down too well.

Addressing Prince William, he told him how he had been involved in the Royal Variety since 1993, hosting it five times ‘working for your nan, your granddad, your dad and now working for you’.
He then added how he used to entertain the troops in the Gulf, risking his life.
He told them: “Do I have an MBE? No! An OBE? No! CBE? No! I’m not even a member of the RAC anymore it’s a liberty I tell you.”
Viewers weren’t terribly keen on his routine.

But of course there were plenty of viewers who were happy to see the star on our screens again – and even a few who agreed he should be a sir.
