Jamie Oliver and His Wife Jools Have Been Together since They Were Teenagers

Famous chef Jamie Oliver has known his wife Jools for decades. Jamie and Jools met when they were 17 and have been together since they were teenagers. Jamie Oliver’s wife, known mainly by her nickname Jools, was born Juliette Norton on November 27, 1974.

Jools has a clothing line called Little Bird, which is available in the fashion store Next. Her fashion brand is quite popular as it has previously received an award from Junior Magazine for Best British kids Fashion Brand.

Besides having a clothing brand, Jools is also an Instagram influencer who loves sharing numerous photos of her home and life with her lovely family on social media. One of her posts was about how she found a stack of love letters Jamie sent her when she was a teen.

She said she worked in Japan for three months when she was 17 years old, and her then-boyfriend Jamie used to send her a letter or fax every day. Jools mentioned that these letters were only half of the ones Jamie had written to her.

The couple became husband and wife in 2000 and have had several children. They first lived in Hampstead Heath in north London in 2019 before moving to a 16th-century country mansion in the village of Finchingfield in Essex. The pair’s home sits on a 70-acre estate with a massive six-bedroom farmhouse and three-bedroom lodge, including converted stables.

In August 2022, Jamie revealed that his wife has suffered from long Covid over the past two years. During an interview with The Mail+, he spoke about his wife’s health, and it’s not often that the cookbook author talked about his wife publicly and seemed worried about his other half.

Jamie said Jools has had “bad Covid and long Covid” and said she has been “really affected by it.” He further mentioned:

“She’s OK, but still not what she wants to be. It’s been two years. She finds it deeply scary… She’s been an absolute superstar.”

Jamie and Jools Have 5 Children Together – Meet All of Them

Jamie Oliver’s family includes his wife and five children. They had their first child together in 2001 following IVF treatment. The pair has been open about how they have suffered multiple miscarriages. Jools has expressed her fertility struggles in the past, which Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome caused.

In 2017, she revealed that she had a miscarriage when she was three months pregnant. Jools said the experience makes one worried when they get pregnant again and prevents them from enjoying the pregnancy in the early stages.

The 47-year-old chef once revealed to Hello how Jools had always wanted to have kids. Jamie also said, having kids was his wife’s dream, and being a mother is one thing that makes her happy.

The chef said he didn’t understand at first why Jools wanted to have kids because they had careers. But it was until his wife became a mom that he “understood how honest she was being” and mentioned, “that’s her world.”

The couple has recently discussed whether they plan to have a sixth child. Jamie said on “The Chris Moyles Show” on Radio X that he doesn’t think so but is not the only one who has “a choice in this.”

Jamie and Jools first child is Poppy Honey Rosie, born on March 18, 2002. She started attending university in 2020 and is studying for a degree. Her mom shared how much she misses her in an Instagram post.

Just a year later, the pair had their second child, another daughter Daisy Boo Pamela, born on April 10, 2003. She’s also now in university, and her dad shared a touching post to celebrate her 18th birthday. Jamie described his daughter as “an amazing kind bonkers young lady.”

Petal Blossom Rainbow is another one of Jools and Jamie Oliver’s children. She was born about six years after Daisy on April 3, 2009. Her mom revealed that her name came from My Little Pony.

Buddy Bear is their fourth child and eldest son. He was born on September 15, 2010, and his mom spoke about how fun it was to name him because he was their first son. According to his mother, Buddy loves surfing.

River Rocket is Jamie and Jools’s lastborn; they welcomed him on August 7, 2016. His name is allegedly inspired by his father’s early career when he was discovered by BBC while working at River Cafe in 1997.

Jamie Has Suffered Major Financial Difficulties in Recent Years

In 2019, Jamie Oliver put his restaurants into administration after they struggled with debt and a more saturated market. Twenty-two branches of Jamie’s Italian, Fifteen London, Barbecoa, and Jamie Oliver’s Diner were all placed in administration. Only three of Jamie’s 25 restaurants were not closed, which included the Jamie’s Diner at Gatwick Airport and two Jamie’s Italian restaurants.

The chef took to Twitter at the time to express how he felt about most of his restaurants closing. He wrote, “I’m devastated that our much-loved UK restaurants have gone into administration. I am deeply saddened by this outcome.”

He went on to thank the people who were part of the businesses over the years. Jamie’s British restaurants started experiencing financial trouble in 2016, with the chef injecting millions from his savings to try and salvage the business. Even then, about 20 pizzerias and restaurants had to be closed in the following months. Oliver’s restaurant group was set up over a decade ago.

Despite nearly all of Jamie’s restaurants closing due to them reportedly owing creditors around $100 million, the chef remains quite rich. The 47-year-old chef still has numerous other ventures, such as being a cookbook author. According to the Nielsen Book Research reports, over 45 million copies were sold in 2018, bringing in $7,4 million in sales.

He also sells kitchen gadgets on Amazon, has sold over 27 million Tefal cookware pieces, and signed a deal with Tesco as their official health ambassador. Jamie Oliver said he “learned a lot” from his failures and saw them as a growing opportunity. The chef also said he feels he still has “20 years of good work” ahead of him but isn’t looking to see his name in restaurants worldwide.
