A serious multi vehicle crash has shut the M1 northbound on Saturday morning near Sheffield.
South Yorkshire Police have closed the M1 northbound this morning (December 9) following a serious crash involving four cars. The motorway has been shut between J31 Worksop and J32 Sheffield.
National Highways has reported that emergency services are currently at the scene. It is not clear at this time when the motorway will be reopened – long delays are likely as traffic diverts.

Our travel partner, INRIX, reported: “All traffic being temporarily held and stationary traffic due to accident, four cars involved on M1 Northbound from J31 A57 Worksop Road (Sheffield / Worksop) to J32 M18.”
The M1 Northbound entry slip road is also blocked as traffic diverts, INRIX reported.
It is not clear at this time if there has been any injuries caused. YorkshireLive have asked South Yorkshire Police for more information.
