Across parts of Yorkshire a yellow weather warning for rain has been put in place by the Met Office.

The warning covers parts of Yorkshire, with places like Bradford, Huddersfield, Leeds, Dewsbury and Wakefield all falling under the yellow warning for rain, which was put in place on Tuesday until Wednesday (September 19).

The Met Office said: “Outbreaks of rain, heavy at times, will affect many parts of the UK on Tuesday and Wednesday. The heaviest and most persistent rainfall during this period is expected to affect the high ground of northwest England, northwest Wales and south Wales.

“Over the course of this 36 hours in these areas, 50-100 mm of rainfall is likely to accumulate widely, with as much as 150-200 mm in some locations.”

Huddersfield

Light showers are forecast in Huddersfield on Wednesday morning says Met Office, turning heavy by 9am until 4pm. It is forecast to be a sunny evening.

Bradford

There will be light showers on Wednesday morning in Bradford, turning heavier by 9am until 2pm. It will be cloudy throughout the afternoon with sun forecast from 6pm onwards.

York

York is forecast for a mostly rainy morning, with heavy and light showers forecast throughout. From 3pm the rain will disappear making for a cloudy afternoon – some sunny intervals expected in the evening.

Sheffield

Wednesday will start with light rain for Sheffield turning heavier as the morning goes on, at 2pm however the rain will stop and the afternoon will turn cloudy. Forecasts say it will be a sunny evening.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

Starting bright with showers Thursday. Heavy rain, possibly thundery, arriving later and continuing into Friday. Chilly start Saturday, largely dry with sunny spells. Winds easing, turning colder.
