Nova Whitfield Is Already a Blogger – Facts about DC Young Fly’s Daughter

Nova Whitfield is the daughter of comedian and musician DC Young Fly and the late “Wild ‘N Out” star Jacky Oh. Although she is just a child, she is steadily building her mark on Instagram and YouTube.

At a young age, Nova Whitfield is rapidly becoming a social media sensation in her own right. Her father, DC Young Fly, known by his birth name John Richard Whitfield, gained fame through Vine and Instagram. He is also recognized for his music and comedy talents.

Nova’s mother, Jacky Oh, was multifaceted, embodying roles as an entrepreneur, a television and social media personality, and a proud mother. However, she gained fame in the MTV show “Wild ‘N Out.”

Nova Whitfield’s parents had been in a long-term relationship. DC Young Fly and Jacky Oh initially crossed paths at a hotel where they filmed a “Wild N’ Out” episode in 2015.

Jacky’s DJ Smallz Eyes interview from July 2017 stated that their dating journey started after the show wrapped up its episode. She shared that it was not love at first sight, but she liked him.

She recalled DC Young Fly as “super antisocial” when she met him and his friend, whom she was familiar with, in the hotel lobby. Despite his demeanor at the time, she said his “swag” captivated her and drew her towards him.

Sparks flew between the couple, and after over a year of dating, the dynamic duo welcomed their daughter Nova in October 2016, and their lives changed for the better, especially for the musician-comedian.

DC Young Fly has become a protective father, eager to explore the bond between him and his daughter. In a separate interview shortly before the arrival of Nova, he confidently declared he would be the “father of the year.”

The father, filled with pride, said their daughter was named Nova after a meteor. Meanwhile, Jacky stated that having a child at the height of her modeling career was the “perfect time” for her. She explained to DJ Smallz:

“I was excited; I thought so blessed to be able to have a baby. I didn’t think about how my body was going to change or putting anything on hold; I was prepared for another chapter of my life, so it came at the perfect timing.”

After welcoming Nova, the couple went on to expand their family. In 2020, Jacky gave birth to their second daughter, Nala, and in 2022, they had their third and last child, a son named Prince.

Although the couple’s two younger children still lack an understanding of social media and television fame, Nova Whitfield has been emulating her parents’ success in the entertainment industry.

She has her own social media accounts, which her parents appear to be in charge of. As of this writing, the young social media sensation has over 177,000 Instagram followers and 97,000 YouTube subscribers with over 3 million views since creating the YouTube account on June 29, 2019.

Nova’s famous dad once publicly spoke highly of her and her siblings. Besides relishing his music and comedy career, he joyfully declared that his children had inherited his “crazy” personality.

Nova Whitfield’s mother’s untimely death was a shocking and unexpected loss to the world. She was 32, and according to TMZ’s report on June 1, 2023, Jacky passed away in Miami, but the actual cause of her passing remains unknown.

However, TMZ also mentioned a since-deleted social media post that claimed Nova’s mother, whose real name was Jacklyn Smith, had traveled to Miami for a “mommy makeover.”

Following the tragic news of her passing, the “Wild N’ Out” official Instagram account posted a picture of Jacky with a heartfelt message to her family in the caption. The post highlighted her as a “loving friend” and a “beloved colleague.”

It also praised her as a “tremendous mother.” Additionally, the post extended condolences to the show’s cast, including DC Young Fly, Nick Cannon, and B Simone, during this difficult time.

The post added that Jacky’s memory will be treasured and missed. Nova’s late mother was featured on the MTV show for five seasons. Afterward, she started her own business—a lip gloss line called J Nova Collection.

Although she and DC Young Fly had been together long before her death, they never tied the knot. In her 2017 interview with DJ Smallz, Jacky mentioned that there had been no discussions about marriage with her partner.

At the time, she expressed contentment with their current situation, adopting an ” [If] it’s not broke, don’t fix it” mentality. They were both young and enjoying themselves and their baby as a small but happy family. Jacky is one of the latest celebrities who died in 2023.
