The application deadline for primary school places is looming and councils across Yorkshire are urging people to apply.
Parents and guardians have until Monday, January 15, to apply for a place at their chosen primary school for their children. This is for the academic year beginning in September 2024.
To apply online, you will need a valid email address, your child’s name and date of birth, your address, and the names of your school preferences. Every application is given an equal weight, but a late application may reduce your chances of getting you chosen school.
According to Kirklees Council, late applications are considered after all on-time applicants have been allocated places.
You should try to fill every option available on your application, as if you only put one school and you do not get in, your selection will be more limited. You should also check the admission criteria to make sure you meet them.
If you want to apply for a place for your child, each council takes applications separately and so you should apply through your local council.
Here is the link for applications in each council area.
