Long-term friends Selma Blair and Christina Applegate have been supporting each other throughout their journeys with Multiple Sclerosis (MS). Applegate opened up about Blair’s personal influence on her life to British Vogue in the May 2023 issue. Blair had advised Applegate to get tested for MS, ultimately leading to a better quality of life. According to Applegate, “Selma has had an incredible impact on the MS community but, more so, she’s had an impact on how the world views it.”
Earlier in November 2022, Blair spoke about her close friendship with Applegate and how they have leaned on each other during their individual battles with the condition. Despite exiting “Dancing With the Stars” early due to health concerns, Blair returned for a final performance. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Blair expressed her admiration for Applegate at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. Blair had joined Applegate’s family, friends, and fans, including her “Dead to Me” co-star Linda Cardellini and former “Married . . . With Children” co-stars Katey Sagal and David Faustino.
Though Applegate has previously spoken candidly about her challenges, Blair noted that Applegate still supports her. Blair acknowledged Applegate’s strength and nurturing qualities, saying, “If you need something, she’s at your house. There have been things that I had been unglued, and she’s like, ‘I’m outside, answer the door.’” Blair also shared that she has offered Applegate advice on canes, an essential aid for those with MS.
