While many people have spent much of the past two years worried that they would catch the virus and place their lives in grave danger, however, for one couple, the virus was far from the diagnosis when they got some exciting news.

Claire McWhinnie had just returned from a trip to Dublin in September 2021 when she began exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms. However, because of the nature of the trip, she thought her symptoms might simply be a hangover.

Yet the symptoms pointed toward something that Claire never expected, something that would surprise her and her husband, Geoff Hennefer, not once but twice over.

After Claire realized she was not simply hungover, she deduced she might have the COVID-19 virus. She revealed:

“I went to Dublin with the girls and got back, and I didn’t feel great. I thought I had Covid; it was my first holiday away after lockdown.”

A girl’s trip is something that many know as a tumultuous time when a woman and her friends let loose for a while. A time to hang out with friends, catch up, and overall have a good time. For Claire, she thought it was this that caused her to catch the virus.

Claire then found out that she did not have COVID-19, so she decided to do one more test to ensure what could be causing her to feel under the weather for such an extended period.

She decided that to put her mind at rest, she would take a pregnancy test to be safe, and she was astonished when the test confirmed that she was indeed pregnant. She was not anticipating carrying a child.

Claire was shocked by the news because she had suffered two miscarriages before this pregnancy and knew that she had a low egg count. However, the couple’s biggest shock was yet to come! A great adventure was about to begin for the couple.

The couple was delighted at the blessing they had been given, and the day they went for their first scan to check on their baby, they found out they were expecting not one but two babies. Claire said:

“I went for a scan, and they said there were two heartbeats in there; I was shocked.”

While the couple was excited that they were expecting two children, Claire’s pregnancy did not go as smoothly as she had hoped. There were a couple of bumps along the way that concerned the couple.

During her pregnancy, Claire revealed that she had significant anxiety about getting COVID-19 because she wanted to ensure her babies were safe. She admitted that she dreaded the thought of being ill while carrying her twins.

Weeks before giving birth, Claire was admitted to Royal Bolton Hospital because she had a suspicious blood clot and a blood pressure condition. She also contracted COVID-19 two weeks after she was admitted to the hospital.

Because Claire had contracted COVID-19 and had been in the hospital for some weeks, she was too poorly to go home, and her due date was just around the corner. She was advised to stay in the hospital until she delivered her twins, which she did.

Fortunately, on May 11, 2022, Geoff and Claire welcomed their twins, Louis William Hennefer and Florence Rose Hennefer. The twins arrived safely, and Claire was in good health when she gave birth to the twins.

The twins were delivered via c-section, but Claire revealed that it was touch-and-go whether they would be delivered this way because she had COVID-19. However, the birth went well despite Claire saying that life is overwhelming.

The couple revealed they were excited to finally be parents after the trials they faced during the pregnancy, even though they wouldn’t be getting much sleep from now on. Claire shared:

“It’s like all my Christmases have come together at once — I don’t know what boredom is like anymore!

There is no doubt that this little family has been through so much to come together finally, but we hope that in the future, they will experience a much more manageable road ahead than the one that they have traveled so far.
