Manchester City legend Vincent Kompany has emerged as a contender to take the vacant manager’s job at Burnley after the sacking of Sean Dyche in mid-April.

Kompany is currently in charge of Anderlecht in his native Belgium, with the job being his first as a coach since hanging up his boots with the club.

Burnley’s manager targets

Now, Burnley are looking for a long-term replacement for Dyche and Kompany is one of the names on their list of potential targets.

Derby County boss Wayne Rooney is also in contention, having impressed despite their relegation to League One. Middlesbrough‘s Chris Wilder and Braga‘s Carlos Carvalhal are others linked with the post.

Kompany, still just 36 years old, has been in charge at Anderlecht since the summer of 2020. He finished third twice and currently has the side in the playoffs, with a chance at winning the title.
