The settlement between the NFL and the NFL Players Association over Deshaun Watson’s case is in. A total of 11 games suspended and $5 million dollars is the final agreement that the quarterback will have to uphold on his end. Naturally, the Cleveland Browns took a stance on this whole situation by fully supporting their player and hoping he no longer commits any of these crimes in the future.

Just to be clear, no evidence has been found of Watson actually committing these crimes against 26 women who accused him but too many alleged victims is definitely not the best look for either him or the Cleveland Browns organization. Either way, the team doesn’t have much of a choice but to support their player regardless of what really happened. What matters is the evidence that comes forward in a court of law.

What did the Cleveland Browns say?

Here’s the full statement from the Cleveland Browns: “As we have previously conveyed, Deshaun and his representatives have abided by the NFL and NFLPA structure awaiting a final decision and we have respected the process. Now that a decision on discipline has been reached, we understand this is a real opportunity to create meaningful change and we are committed to investing in programs in Northeast Ohio that will educate our youth regarding awareness, understanding, and most importantly, prevention of sexual misconduct and the many underlying causes of such behavior.

“Since Deshaun entered our building, he has been an outstanding member of our organization and shown a true dedication to working on himself both on and off the field. We will continue to support him as he focuses on earning the trust of our community.”

But reactions from people who wanted Deshaun Watson to be convicted for crimes that were never proven, were obviously against him. There are two different stories to tell here. One of all those unproven accusations and another one of all those women who didn’t get to see justice for what Deshaun did. That’s how the justice system works, nobody is guilty of any crimes unless it’s proven in a court of law.
