Cristiano Ronaldo‘s future is, for the second straight summer, up in the air. Just one year after returning to Manchester United, he has asked to leave the club. But not before receiving a six-figure bonus.
Manchester United‘s failure to qualify for the Champions League has left the forward exploring other options, even though the Premier League club are reluctant to sell.
The Sun have reported that the bonus was received before announcing his intention to leave, and they say that it has not gone down well at the club, citing sources close to operations at Old Trafford.
“All of the contracts were renewed at the beginning of July, and then the news came out that he wanted to leave,” a Sun source reportedly said
“He hasn’t done anything wrong, but some people don’t think it’s a coincidence that he didn’t reveal his desire to leave earlier.”
Cristiano Ronaldo’s loyalty bonus?
It has been established that the payment was not a loyalty bonus, and he is under no obligation as a result of accepting the sum to see out the second year of his contract.
It is, instead, related to image rights and for reaching some of his first-season objectives.
Though not confirmed, a sum of 900,000 euros has been reported.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s next destination
Chelsea are reportedly interested in taking Cristiano to Stamford Bridge, where he could play in the Champions League.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also linked, but the former have distanced themselves.
