Dak Prescott, the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, will return to the field on Sunday afternoon, against the Detroit Lions. This will be his first start since fracturing his throwing thumb in a loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on opening night six weeks prior.

Cooper Rush, who deputised for Dak in his absence, managed to be a decent enough backup, helping Dallas win all but one game during that period.

As such, Dak took to Instagram to praise his teammate. Dak has wanted to acknowledge his work on his social networks by also posting all the good things that have been said about Rush and shared on networks by his team, the Cowboys.

Rush won four games on the trot with the Cowboys, before losing 26-17 against Philadelphia Eagles. Rush was certainly excited to be a starter because he has largely served as a backup since being signed out of Central Michigan in 2017.

Praise for Cooper Rush

“It’s been huge. It’s why you play the game,” Rush said after Cowboys‘ 25-10 win over Washington Commanders, via Fox4’s Jeff Kolb.

“Since you’re a little kid you want to start in the NFL, so being able to do that for the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday afternoons is pretty awesome.”

During the team’s current 4-1 stretch, Rush averaged 191.2 yards per game, which aren’t the most extraordinary numbers, but still good enough for a second-choice quarterback.

Prescott’s comeback

The Cowboys anticipate an increase in offensive output with Prescott‘s return while continuing to prioritize an Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard-led running attack.

KT tape may be applied to Prescott‘s thumb, but he may decide to remove it on Sunday. He promised to keep doing what he is doing to support his thumb during and after practices and games.

“I’m not going to just act like I didn’t have a broken bone a few weeks ago,” Prescott said.

“I am still going to do some things, but for the most part I’m healthy. It feels good. I grabbed the ball. The ball is comfortable in my hand. My grip is great. Honestly, putting it behind me and just focusing on this game plan.”
