Deshaun Watson‘s 22 sexual misconduct lawsuits were joined by one more Tuesday after Nia Smith watched a television special.
The Cleveland Browns quarterback was sued this day in Harris County, Texas, by Smith, who said the NFL player was sexually inappropriate with her in three massage sessions in 2020.
Between March and April of last year, the first 22 lawsuits were filed, and after Smith saw the case on HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” special, she decided to do the same as the others affected.
“In that article, the plaintiff was impressed by the courage of the victims willing to step forward and speak out and was extremely upset by the mistreatment and re-victimization of the plaintiffs by Watson and her legal team,” the new lawsuit says.

Watson is unrepentant and his lawyer accuses those accusing him of being liars
Watson has stated that he is unrepentant about the situation and has publicly refused to take responsibility for his action, so Smith decided to join the other 22 women and sue, as the NFL player “must be held accountable.”
Rusty Hardin, attorney for the Cleveland player, said the women accusing him have lied and are seeking money, plus three of the cases involved consensual sex.

The lawsuit says Dionne Louis, a boss at the massage spa, wanted to keep the NFL player happy, so she agreed to it, which upset Smith.
“She was completely traumatized by the experience with Watson. She now realizes that Deshaun Watson, with the help of Dionne Louis, was manipulating her all along,” the lawsuit states.
Tony Buzbee, lead attorney for the 23 plaintiffs, confirmed the lawsuit against Watson and said that other cases could arise, in addition to feeling shame for the team defending the player, “they have vilified these women and this cause.”
