Eintracht Frankfurt president Peter Fischer rallied his club’s fans in the hours leading up to the Europa League final in the streets of Seville on Wednesday afternoon.

He did so with a controversial speech in which he described the Estadio Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan as a “Mickey Mouse” stadium.

The controversy over the ticketing of the massive influx of German fans in Seville prompted the Eintracht chief to attack the stadium.

“Two hundred thousand fans wanted to be here today,” Fischer said.

“But 190,000 are sad because we are playing in this Mickey Mouse stadium.”

As expected, Fischer‘s comments spread quickly on social media and have outraged Sevilla fans, who have reminded the Eintracht president of the capacity of their stadium by comparing it to other major European venues.
