Real Madrid‘s radar does not stop emitting signals about finding young talent, the kind of talent they have been focusing on for months now. On that list, the name of Jude Bellingham is in first place, but the auction that his possible signing is becoming has forced Los Blancos to expand their point of view and Enzo Fernandez, current Benfica player, has appeared.

Bellingham is one of Real Madrid‘s main targets. The club is taking all the necessary steps in that sense, so much so that contact with the player’s entourage took place months ago and prompted his decision not to renew the contract that binds him to Borussia Dortmund.

Too much competition

The problem that Real Madrid has encountered is that there are many rivals in the recruitment of young talent. In the case of Bellingham, despite being 19 years old, he already has an impressive track record in the Bundesliga behind him, but the Englishman is attracting interest from other teams, such as Liverpool.

The Premier League club missed out on the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni last summer and is now going all out for the Borussia Dortmund midfielder. There is talk of a possible transaction that could be worth upwards of 100 million euros.

Given the scenario that is presented, the World Cup is also helping the value of the player to grow, so Real Madrid is also looking closely at Enzo Fernandez, a player they had been watching in Argentina.

It so happens that Real Madrid was very close to signing him, but two details put the brakes on a deal. The first concerned the absence of a free non-EU place, something that is not the case now with the nationalizations of Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao.

Enzo’s market value has skyrocketed

The second of the points that led to doubt was the adaptation period he would have to go through after landing in Europe. The doubts have been quickly dispelled by his performance for Benfica. His appearance in the second of Argentina‘s World Cup matches confirmed that he is a player of quality.

The Lisbon club was the one who bet on the midfielder by paying 10 million euros that can become 18 with add-ons. Now his price has multiplied, but far from the 100 million euros that they say he could be worth at the moment. Benfica has in its possession 75 percent of the player’s economic rights.

Real Madrid is evaluating different options and one of them is the possible signing of a 21-year-old player who, in three months in Europe, has managed to convince everyone.
