Erling Haaland is looking forward to the end of the World Cup and the resumption of the Premier League. The Norwegian has not been able to enjoy this World Cup and is already ‘bored’ without football.
In a funny advert with Sky Sports, the Manchester City striker becomes a mascot, a gardener and even dresses a mannequin in Kevin De Bruyne‘s shirt to kill the boredom during this break.
Haaland says he has been “working hard” while his friends were away, but admitted he “missed the banter” during the team’s training sessions.
The promotional video opens with Haaland walking alone around Manchester City‘s Sports City.
“I’ve been working hard while the lads have been away,” Haaland is heard saying.
Lying on a stretcher, Haaland looks off into the distance and laments: “Sometimes… it’s a bit boring.”
The Premier League has been away for so long that Haaland even jumps onto the pitch and starts a lawnmower to pass the time. He even tried his hand at being City‘s mascot.
The Norwegian, with most of his teammates in Qatar during this World Cup, kills time in the ad, wishing for the return of his teammates. One of the funniest moments in the ad is when he dresses a training dummy in a City shirt with the number 17 on the back and De Bruyne‘s name.
Haaland, who is desperate for the Premier League to get back on track, was also spotted during this amusing announcement bursting into one of Manchester City‘s meeting rooms. He heard laughter and thought his team-mates had returned. However, it was just Micah Richards and Roy Keane laughing on TV.
He also tried to phone Jack Grealish. No one answered with there just an answering machine with the England star’s voice: “OK, this is Jack, leave a message”.
Despite being bored at home, Haaland wished his teammates well.
“Anyway, I hope the lads are well and I look forward to seeing them soon,” he concluded.
The Premier League resumes on 26 December, just eight days after the World Cup final between Argentina and France. Haaland is looking forward to the return of the domestic championship and trying to close the five-point gap between City and league leaders Arsenal.
