Miami Heat star Kyle Lowry appeared on a Lionel Messi Argentina shirt during Heat‘s match against Chicago Bulls on Tuesday.
An injury prevented Lowry from helping his team against the Bulls, who managed a 113-103 victory at the FTX Arena. The 36-year-old point guard decided to honor the Paris Saint-Germain star after Messi led Argentina all the way to World Cup glory in Qatar.
His decision to don a Messi shirt has come after reports linking the Argentine with a potential move to Inter Miami next season.
MLS Messi
Back in November, The Times revealed that the MLS franchise are willing to make Messi the highest paid player in the league’s history.
The former Barcelona captain could re-join forces with former teammate Sergio Busquets, who is expected to leave the Blaugrana at the end of the season.
Busquets has been also linked with a move to Inter Miami, as he is not expected to renew his Barcelona contract, one which is set to expire in June.
Unwilling to retire from Argentina
Despite finally managing to win the World Cup after several attempts, Messi announced after the final against France that he is not willing to retire from international football.
“I am not retiring from the national team,” he said.
“I want to continue playing for Argentina to honor the title of world champion. It is the title I was missing and here it is. It’s crazy. It’s been a long wait.”
